Dhonekhali is a traditional handloom weave from the state of West Bengal. This is a simple red and white cotton saree with a solid colour red border with minute ‘temples’. The ‘fish’ is the distinctive design motif of the saree. It is representative of the topography, lifestyle and culinary habits of the geographical region from where it originates. The ‘fish motif’ is interwoven throughout the whole body along the warp or the length of the saree. Simple red and patterned bands also run throughout the body of the saree. The palla remains indistinct as the pattern of the body is replicated in the palla. 
The saree is soft, easy to drape, lightweight and does not come with blouse piece. The saree is ready to wear, fully finished with fall and pico.
